James J. Devaney, Black Diamond Alligator Tannery |

Several years ago, I visited Citrus County to consider a business opportunity consistent with our leather manufacturing business in Worchester, Massachusetts. The opportunity was an existing alligator tannery in Lecanto named Black Diamond Alligator Tannery, LLC. The Tannery was non operational and my interest at best was exploratory. On my first visit in 2014, i was visited by Rebecca Bays and Don Taylor from EDACC. Rebecca's and Don's visit and openness about Citrus County was contagious. From work force training, to water resources, to consideration of state assistance, the opportunities of Citrus County were presented. As a Northeasterner, I was not use to such active municipal participation at any level. I left Lecanto with increased interest.  Fast forwarding through 2014 into 2015, the EDACC team continued to support our interest, reach out to 3rd parties and educate our group about what Florida, and particularly Citrus County, had to offer. Aided by this support and encouragement, my partner, Frank Slattery, Jr. and I purchased the tannery in December 2015. I sincerely hope that we, as corporate citizens, can support Citrus County as well as our mentors, the Economic Development Authority for Citrus County. The Black Diamond Alligator Tannery will continue to reach out to the great professionals of EDACC as it is comfortable and extremely productive to do so.

Michael J. McCarthy, President, Sibex, Inc. | http://sibex.com

We started Sibex in 1983 in Clearwater. After years of vacationing in Citrus County to enjoy its beauty and options for recreation, we jumped at the opportunity in 2006 to invest in a new division of Sibex in Citrus. As business moves northward from Tampa and with the pending construction of the Suncoast Parkway extension into Citrus County, Sibex is well placed to take advantage of the growth coming our way.

Timothy D. Short,  President, Turbine Broach Company | http://turbinebroach.co

When we decided to move our business from South Florida in 1995, we found Citrus County -- a place off the beaten path of interstates and highways, stop lights and traffic jams that was close enough to enjoy the amenities of metropolitan America, yet far enough away to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and gaze at the stars. Most of our employees moved up with us and we have never looked back.

handra Patel, Founder, CHAMPS Software | http://champsinc.com

We started CHAMPS Software in Citrus County in 1976 because of its proximity to the nuclear power plant in Crystal River. Over the years as our customer base expanded globally, we considered moving to a larger city but the serenity of Citrus County and our loyal workforce induced us to remain. Now our global customers come to visit us, where we enjoy the opportunity to introduce them to our beautiful Nature Coast.
